I have to admit something, I never seen myself where I am today when I first started this journey in the photography world.
I just loved taking pictures of people and seeing them smile. That moment they see that image of themselves or of their loved ones, it's called leaving a legacy!
I started this business twelve years ago, I just wanted to take pictures, it was never about the money, then they started offering to pay me for the images and my time. I thought why not make a career out of something that I love doing. Which has lead me to where I am now. It all started with an adorable little two year daughter of the girl I worked with. I still have one of my very first business cards with that little girls picture on it. I can't believe how far I have from fro that day back in 2009.
I was shooting everything from children, families, seniors and tons of weddings. Today I only shoot 3 weddings a year because my heart and passion is more fashion and glamour portraits. I love working with hair stylists and makeup artists and creating something that is unique and timeless. I strive to photograph every woman I come in contact with. I feel that every woman is beautiful, no matter her size, her ethnic, her height or her age... Beauty is with in us all!!
I can finally say after all these years I am finally doing what I love and enjoying every moment of it!
I recently entered a few of my images in to a portrait masters awards & accreditation, I was so nervous for the 4 weeks it took to wait on the results from 13 world renowned professional photographers... Monday March 1tth, the results cam in and I am thrilled to say that my 5 images received credit and was awarded the Bronze, PLUS one of those images received Bronze with Distinction! This is huge for me! This is just the beginning, I plan to enter more again later in the next go around and do this every year until I earn my "Master!"
The process is simple, you submit your work and it is judged by 13 world-renowned judges. It’s a tough thing to put your work out there to be judged and even tougher when the scores come in. I have been learning from some of the top portrait photographers of our time, their guidance and sometimes hard critiques help build my skills to the point where I am today.
But today it is time to savor my achievement, not to criticize the little things I could have improved upon, not to compare myself to others. II have certain goals I would like to reach, but I will take this win for now and work hard to reach the next goal, and so on!! I did this!!!! ME!!!!.
Here's to reaching my next goal, no matter how hard it is........
